"Around 18 million tonnes of malt is produced annually around the world, of which around half is produced within the EU. Of the total malt production 94% is used for beer production, 4% for whisky production while the remaining 2% is used for other food use, such as breakfast cereals and malt vinegar.

Established in 1959, Euromalt represents the interests of the malting industry in the European Union.

Through its various committees, Euromalt aims to represent and promote the interests of the EU malting industry at EU and international levels on issues that affect the ability of maltsters to source their raw materials or to manufacture, distribute and market their products."
